The JAIS department has done it again. This time they decided to go beyond overboard an arrested one of Malaysia’s prominent religious scholar. This scholar is none other than Dr Mohd Asri Zainal Abidin, a lecturer from this writer’s alma mater (read here)
Perhaps, the decision to arrest him was made by a group of the orthodox Islamist, whose influence in the society is decreasing, day by day. It was also due to the fact that some of the educated and critical thinking Muslims in the Malaysian society have begin to realize that not all of the knowledge spread by the so called ulamaks on Islam is true let alone is valid nor progressive.
Yesterday was the saddest day for some Muslims who still believe that Islam is a progressive religion.
To the JAIS buggers, this is the only thing this writer has to say;
Jangan Anggap Islam Sempit..

(baca sini)
Seperti kata pepatah Inggeris, The pen is mightier than the sword tetapi dalam konteks zaman canggih ini, a website is the mightiest among others.

AN ACT OF GOD OR AN ACT OF MOCKERY?
by - Hesmel Faznee Faisal
Salam, to fellow bloggers and to the only loyal reader of this self proclaimed blog!
A lot of things have passed under the clear blue sky since this writer took his long break after the fall in his office recently. Not much to say or tell of the incident except that according to the specialist who treated him, a sign of stress was the main contribution to it.
Let us go back to our main story. Based on the writer’s brief flipping through the newspaper, be it online or hardline (ie. the traditional media, Jose!) there were some interesting political and religion based stories but for him, the main issues raised within the context of the two subjects are more dominant and important.
Among them were the annual UMNO general meeting that was held a couple of weeks ago which saw the passing of the resolution to allow more UMNO members to vote for their leader. There was also the 2010 Budget presentation by Prime Minister Dato' Seri Najib Razak which according to some, was a pre-General Election oriented budget.
But obviously, one thing that had really caught this writer's attention was the standing praying mat incident. (read here)
Some Muslims strongly felt that this was an act of God.
This writer holds nothing against it. However, he believes that this was just a man made incident and was intentionally done to create a panic condition among us.
For this writer, God would never reveal His power to his servant merely by raising up the praying mat, should He wants us to repent. The standing praying mat incident was indeed a despicable act by some quarters of the irresponsible Muslims to belittle God’s ability and the faith of other Muslims as well.
We must never forget that some of the Muslim scholars received highly respect among the Westerners. For instance, Ibn Rushd (or Averroes) made remarkable contributions in philosophy, logic, medicine, music and jurisprudence.
The area of logical thinking has been a preventable topic, within the context of the disciplinary thinking among Muslims. There are indeed, a number of Islamic scholars whose areas of speciality were that of logical thinking and philosophy but the question that Muslims should ask themselves is why they tend to regress when they should be progressing and compete with others?
Even a local liberal Muslim scholar had denied and discarded such claims to link the incident as an act of God. (read here)

Again, this writer is not trying to discard or to deny the miracles of God but for him God would never reveal His revelation just by simply raising an object nor objects.
We should look around and realized that God has given many to us, but we neither gave back in return by being kind to others. We wretchedly tend to show our selfishness and have been comfortably living a life of a hermit.

PENYAMUN MEMANGGIL PENYAMUN...
Caci mencaci, cela mencela bukanlah sesuatu yang canggung (No, Jose. I did not borrow the word from M. Nasir! It was my own initiative) tetapi tidaklah dengan ini penulis ingin menghalalkan secara taktik kotor politik!
Rakyat tidak memilih Tan Sri Isa Samad, atas sifat beliau Tan Sri Isa Samad. Mereka memilih Tan Sri Isa Samad kerana beliau calon parti Barisan Nasional.

A LAVISH LIFESTYLE OF THE OPPOSITION LEADER IN AN OPPOSITION RULED STATE
By – Hesmel Faznee Faisal
Salam, to fellow bloggers and other readers!
Before you jump to any conclusion, kindly have a second look at the title above numerous times as possible!
This writer had just found out from here that a former Menteri Besar for “a now Opposition ruled state” will be called to be present at the MACC office to assist on an investigation in view of his palatial mansion, which was said to be bigger than the former Prime Minister's house in Seri Kembangan. We pray and hope that we won't found the former MB lying dead on the ground floor of the Plaza Masalam building shortly after that (It was a poor attempted joke, Jose!)!
Apparently, the cost of his house was nearly the same as the price of 2-4 blocks of shop houses in Bangsar and this has raised eyebrows for many.
Even the former Prime Minister (Stop making reference to the recent retired Prime Minister, Jose!) feels skeptical after the MB claimed the cost of building his mansion was only RM3 million!
Surely any wise guy "or a prick" can tell and differentiate between a good nasi kandar and a phony one just by tasting it! And this issue has indeed raised doubt for the public towards the many aspect of this MB's previous administration and credibility as a leader for one of the wealthiest states in Malaysia!
How on earth could an assemblyman let alone an opposition leader, whose income is solely based on a monthly provide allowances (Depending on whether he has a side income or not, Jose!) can afford to have that kind of house in that fashion?
This writer remembers vividly when as a child, his late grandfather will often share with him stories on the sacrifice that have been done by our forefathers in their struggle for independence. This involves politicians who had to sell or mortgage their piece of land (or lands, in some cases Jose!) to merchants (in those days, it’s either the Orang-Orang Kaya Daerah or the chettiar!) and to use the money to support the party they belonged to.
The spirit of sacrifice, compared to those politicians from the pre-Independence era has long gone amongst our politicians. But this is not to say that politicians are all the same. We do have a number of good ones who are willing to sacrifice and to ensure that voters who had voted for him deserved every single of it!
According to the former MB, he had purchased the house after having successfully secured a bank loan. Whatever reason being given, it is obvious that a person who supposed to be the slave of the rakyat should live a modest lifestyle.
Without doubt, this writer shares the same sentiment with what John Emerich Edward Dalberg Acton had written about power and corruption, in a letter to Bishop Mandell Creighton more than a centuries ago;
Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Great men are almost always bad men.
